Global Dialogues
As part of the Shanghai learning process, 20 global dialogues
designed to promote cross-border learning and the exchange of
knowledge and practical experience were held by videoconference.
These dialogues gathered a selected group of participants including
World Bank staff and outside partners with specific knowledge
of both country and thematic case studies. Their objective was
to peer review the draft case studies, to discuss the conceptual
approach to "scaling up," and to help build a global
community of learning. Usually in every dialogue two case studies
from the same sector but from different countries were analyzed.
The lessons learned from the dialogues were then incorporated
in the case studies presented a the conference.
Country cases, included the experiences of Yemen, Burkina Faso,
India, Chile, Indonesia, Uganda, Malaysia, and Poland, were discussed
and analyzed. Thematic case covered Private Sector Development,
Microfinance, Land Reform, Infrastructure, Water and Sanitation,
Education, Health, Community Driven Development, and Empowerment..
The dialogues were held through the Global Development Learning
Network, GDLN.
Each dialogue page provides access to the executive summaries
of the case studies as well as participant presentations. Most
dialogues are also entirely available for viewing online through
B-Span.
