Logistics Performance Index (LPI) is the simple average of the country scores on the seven key dimensions:
Efficiency and effectiveness of the clearance process by Customs and other border control agencies;
Quality of Transport and IT infrastructure for logistics;
Ease and affordability of arranging shipments;
Competence in the local logistics industry (e.g., transport operators, customs brokers);
Ability to track and trace shipments;
Domestic logistics costs (e.g., local transportation, terminal handling, warehousing); and
Timeliness of shipments in reaching destination.
The index is constructed using the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) method in order to improve the confidence intervals. The scorecards demonstrate comparative performance - the dimensions shown on a scale from 1 to 5 relevant to the possible Comparison groups – all countries (World), region and income groups.
