PPPI Days is as part of PPP Global Network a global networking event among PPP practitioners started in 2006. This year’s event will comprise of 2 days of knowledge sharing and side event of training and site visit to PPP projects. The last edition of PPPI Days, held in December 2008, focused on the impact of the global economic crisis on the financing of PPPs. PPPI Days 2010 will highlight the important lessons from the last 15 months, looking at how the public sector responded to the crisis and look down the road ahead to see what governments will need to do to ensure deals continue to be financed and represent value for money. The first day of the conference will feature as speakers both senior officials covering some of the most active PPP programs as well as the private sector who will give their perspective on what will be needed to ensure continued private sector interest. PPPI Days 2010 continues the theme of featuring emerging challenges for PPP practitioners on the conference’s second day. Important policy drivers at the global, national and local level are reshaping infrastructure and public service priorities for the government. Concerns about global warming and the environmental impacts of urban areas is leading to an increased attention on infrastructure that reduces the carbon footprint of cities, such as urban transport, as well as their impact on water resources. Demographic and social dynamics and rising costs are leading to a re-examination of how best to provide health care and an increased formal role for the private sector in this through PPPs. Innovative models and key policy issues in these areas will be highlighted.
The objective is to support PPP Global Network of practioners with a annual global conference to provide networking, peer-to-peer learning and knowledge exchange opportunity for PPP practitioners.
